🌿 Healing & Anti-Human Trafficking Work

A New Path Rooted in Purpose

Across every chapter of my work, I’ve been drawn to the intersection of healing and purpose — whether through career transitions, guided meditations, or quiet moments in the forest. Recently, that path has expanded into supporting those affected by human trafficking.

This work is deeply personal. It’s not just a cause — it’s a commitment to show up with humility, to listen closely, and to offer trauma-aware spaces where healing can begin.

What’s unfolding is a natural extension of my core work. The same coaching, wellness practices, and purpose-driven tools that support clarity and growth now serve another audience — creating space for survivors and frontline workers to reconnect, restore, and reclaim what’s possible.

Uprooting Trafficking — A 3-Part Awareness Series

I’m currently co-creating a free virtual series to raise awareness around human trafficking and exploitation. This three-night event brings together survivors, frontline experts, and advocates in one space — not just to inform, but to go beneath the surface. Together, we’ll explore the systems that allow trafficking to persist, the realities survivors carry, and the ways we can all respond with greater understanding and courage.

What makes this series unique is its heart: it’s not about headlines or shock — it’s about human dignity, healing, and community accountability.

✨ Words of Support

We’re honoured to share this message from M.P.P. Laurie Scott, whose leadership has helped shaped Ontario’s anti-human-trafficking efforts.

“I would like to recognize Uprooting Trafficking and the efforts of Tamara Doerksen and her team for organizing this important three-part virtual series.
Collaboration with survivors, advocates, law enforcement, and community leaders allows us to work together to change laws.
Our shared goal is to ensure that those affected by human trafficking are heard, supported, and protected — and that communities are equipped to recognize and respond to this hidden crisis. Through initiatives like Uprooting Trafficking, we can bring this issue out of the shadows and help restore safety and dignity to those affected.” — Laurie Scott, M.P.P. Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock

We’ll cover:

  • Understanding Human Trafficking: What human trafficking really is — and isn’t. How it operates, who it affects, and why it continues in plain sight.
  • Restoration and Reintegration: What healing looks like after trafficking — from safe homes to survivor leadership.
  • Prevention and Community Response: How we can protect our families and communities — what to watch for, how to respond, and how to build safe, informed environments.

This is a learning space — for me, and for everyone who joins us. I’m curating this series not as an expert, but as someone who believes that awareness is the first step toward action, and that we all have a role to play.

🌱 Where This Is Headed

In parallel with this series, I’m in the early stages of developing trauma-informed retreats for:

  • Women who have survived trafficking or exploitation

  • Frontline workers experiencing burnout or secondary trauma

These retreats will be rooted in:

  • Safety, dignity, and trust

  • Gentle wellness practices like meditation, sound healing, sylvotherapy, and Reiki

  • A community of care that honours each person’s pace and path

If you’re a survivor, a frontline helper, or someone who works in this space — I want to build these spaces with you, not just for you.

Thank you for taking the time to explore this work. I believe healing is not a single path — it’s many paths, walked together.
